An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly competent and enthusiastic Lecturer to join us in delivering outstanding teaching and learning on our chemistry courses at Kendal College.

Key facts

* Part-time, permanent
22.2 hours per week (0.6 FTE)
* Salary
£18,000 to £22,000, actual salary depending upon hours, qualifications and experience

The successful candidate(s) will have experience with delivering teaching and learning of the highest quality. They will embrace a teaching environment that values creativity, technology, and forward-thinking methodologies. They will build strong, positive working relationships with a supportive and collaborative team of educators and professional services who share the goal of providing a meaningful educational experience.

They will have excellent organisational and time-management skills, be able to prioritise work effectively to meet objectives and deadlines, and be comfortable with adapting to rapid changes in educational trends. They should be able to plan and prioritise their own schedule, possess strong IT skills, and enjoy working as part of a close-knit team.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly competent and enthusiastic Lecturer to deliver outstanding teaching on our chemistry courses, including specialist areas of Access Science, Environmental Science, and A Level Chemistry.

Teaching experience is desirable, but we are looking for someone confident to share their knowledge with students. We will support gaining a formal teaching qualification alongside your work.

Job Overview

* Teaching: Deliver engaging lessons across various curriculum disciplines.
* Curriculum Development: Lead development of specific subjects, ensuring content is current and industry-relevant.
* Research & Consultancy: Engage in research and consultancy to enhance learning.
* Course Verification & Leadership: Oversee verification processes, coordinate teams, and provide leadership.
* Impactful Role: Mentor and educate future industry professionals.
* Classroom Management: Ensure student retention and achievement, provide a safe environment, and ensure resources are adequate.

What we're looking for

Qualifications

* Recognised teaching qualification or willingness to obtain within 2 years
* Degree in related discipline
* GCSEs in English, Maths, Science at Level 2 (A*-C)

Experience

* Recent teaching experience in an educational environment, FE/HE, and science sector preferred

Knowledge & Skills

* Effective communication and presentation skills
* IT proficiency for teaching and monitoring learning
* Strong scientific subject knowledge
* Ability to provide high-quality pastoral care
* Knowledge of health and safety in educational/vocational settings
