Exciting Opportunity for a Senior Highway Engineer (Maintenance) in Bournemouth
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Highway Engineer (Maintenance) to join our client's team in Bournemouth, working on key highway maintenance projects across the region.
This role will focus on the design, management, and delivery of maintenance schemes for the highway network, including carriageways, footways, cycleways, and drainage assets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in highway engineering, with proven experience in leading maintenance projects and managing teams to deliver high-quality results within budget and on time.
The main duties of the Senior Highway Engineer (Maintenance) include:
·Leading the design and development of highway maintenance schemes, from concept to construction, ensuring all stages are completed effectively.
·Reviewing and producing design drawings, specifications, tender, and pre-construction documentation.
·Managing the planned maintenance programme based on asset management priorities and condition data.
·Overseeing site inspections, assessing site information via desktop studies, and using asset management software.
·Managing contracts and ensuring performance meets the required standards and timescales.
·Collaborating with stakeholders and contractors to achieve innovative, cost-effective solutions for the highway network.
·Ensuring that projects are compliant with technical standards, legal obligations, and health and safety regulations.
·Supporting the development of asset management policies, strategies, and methods to improve highway maintenance services.
The Senior Highway Engineer (Maintenance) will have key experience in:
·Leading the design and delivery of highway maintenance projects, including asset management and lifecycle planning.
·Managing budgets, risks, and quality control to meet agreed objectives.
·Strong understanding of NEC3/NEC4 forms of contract, particularly in highway maintenance projects.
·Extensive experience in highways, civil engineering construction, and maintenance treatments.
·Proficiency with asset management systems and relevant IT tools.
·Excellent stakeholder management skills with a track record of collaboration with contractors and partners.
·A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel independently across sites.
