The group is well established and work with utility partners, councils, landlord associations and private homeowners providing a Whole Home Approach to create warmer energy efficient homes, whilst reducing carbon emissions. With offices in Cardiff and Swansea this award-winning organisation is in a period of growth and looking for a Senior Estimator to join the team.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially-minded Senior Estimator to join our clients team and support rapid growth in new markets. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of energy efficiency projects, ensuring competitive and profitable pricing strategies. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of domestic energy efficiency and social housing markets, a proven ability to analyse project requirements and specifications, and a keen eye for detail.
This is an exciting role in an agile and fast-growing company, with plenty of scope to take ownership and be the business lead in your field.
This is a full time permanent position that can offer hybrid working, requiring +/- 3 days in the office per week based on the requirements of the business.
Duties will include:
Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for energy efficiency projects, including materials, labour, equipment, and other related expenses.
Project Analysis: Review project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand the scope of work and identify any potential cost impacts.
Supplier and Subcontractor Coordination: Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring competitive pricing and compliance with project requirements.
Bid Preparation: Develop comprehensive bid proposals, including detailed breakdowns of estimated costs, project timelines, and resource requirements.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
Cost Review Process: Ensure costs are reviewed by the Operational Board prior to sign-off and submission.
Cost Control: Monitor and review project costs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure alignment with initial estimates and identify any variances.
Collaboration: Work closely with the project management, procurement, and sales teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of estimates and proposals.
Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and labour rates to ensure estimates reflect current market conditions.
Continuous Improvement: Implement best practices and continuously improve estimating processes and methodologies.Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field
Proven experience as an estimator in the energy efficiency, construction, or renewable energy sectors
Strong understanding of the domestic energy efficiency market, including relevant technologies and regulatory frameworks
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with a keen eye for detail
Proficiency in estimation software and tools, such as MS Excel and industry-specific estimating software
Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera)
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work at pace and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to energy efficiency
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Professional certification in estimating (e.g., AACE, RICS) preferred
Experience of Local Authority and Social Housing markets preferred
Knowledge of sustainable building practices and energy efficiency measures preferredIn Return
