Offer description

Annual salary: £72,000 Opportunities: Full‑time, part‑time and hybrid roles available

We’re looking for registered healthcare professionals to join our team as Medical Assessors. Whether you’re seeking a full‑time role, part‑time opportunity, or an alternative career path, we offer flexible working options that support a healthier work‑life balance.

Join us as a Medical Assessor and explore a new career pathway where you can apply your clinical expertise in a meaningful way. You’ll receive full training and ongoing support to develop your assessment skills while helping people move forward with their lives.

About the role

As a Medical Assessor, you’ll carry out thorough assessments to understand how a person’s disability or health condition affects their daily life. You’ll produce clear, factual reports to support benefit entitlement decisions across a range of services, including:

* Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
* Work Capability Assessments (WCA)
* Industrial Injuries Benefit (IIB)
* Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme (VDPS)

Every assessment is different. You may work with individuals who have complex physical or mental health conditions, neurological disorders, respiratory diseases, industrial injuries, or vaccine‑related cases. You’ll be given sufficient time and support to complete high‑quality, respectful assessments focused on the individual.

What we’re looking for

* A well‑established level of medical experience obtained after full GMC registration is essential. (within the UK)
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce accurate, detailed reports.
* Confidence using computer systems and digital tools.
* A professional and empathetic approach, with the ability to assess a wide range of conditions, including complex and mental health cases.
* A proactive learner who is open to developing new skills outside of traditional clinical environments.

What we offer

* Competitive salary of £72,000.
* Flexible working patterns, including hybrid working.
* Comprehensive training and ongoing professional development.
* A supportive structure with clinical leadership and peer support.
* A rewarding, non‑frontline role that enables continued impact on people’s lives.

EEO Statement

* MAXIMUS is committed to developing, maintaining and supporting a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the recruitment process. We know that feeling included has a dramatic impact on personal wellbeing and are working to ensure that no job applicant receives less favourable treatment due to any personal characteristic. Advertisements for posts will include sufficiently clear and accurate information to enable potential applicants to assess their own suitability for the post.
* We are a Disability Confident Leader, thanks to our commitment to the recruitment, retention and career development of people with disabilities and long‑term conditions. The Disability Confident scheme includes a guaranteed interview for any applicant with a disability who meets the minimum requirements for a job. When you complete your job application you will find a question asking you if you would like to apply under the Disability Confident Guaranteed Interview Scheme. If you feel that you have a disability and apply under this scheme, providing that you meet the essential criteria for the job, you will then be invited for interview. Your Guaranteed Interview application will only be shared with the hiring manager and the local resourcing team.
* Where reasonable, MAXIMUS will review and consider adjustments for those applicants who express a requirement for them during the recruitment process.
