Role Title: Electrical Design Engineer Reporting Line: The Electrical Design Engineer will report directly to the Head of Electrical Engineering. Location: The Company’s offices are at Concourse 2, Catalyst, Queens Road, Titanic Quarter, Belfast, BT3 9DT and/or Unit 1 Oakbank, Channel Commercial Park, Queens Road, Titanic Quarter, Belfast, BT3 9DT. Departmental Overview: The Electrical Engineering department oversees the Electrical Design and Integration of all vessel sub- systems. Responsible for the delivery of the high performance and innovative electrical architectures required across our entire product portfolio here at Artemis Technologies Ltd. The team collaborates closely with all technical departments including Control Systems, Naval Architecture, Propulsion and Mechanical Systems, Energy Solutions, Design Tools and Performance, Compliance and Vessel Ops to develop ground-breaking zero-emissions foiling vessel technologies. Role Overview: Responsible for the development and implementation of Vessel Electrical Architectures, power distribution systems, control system hardware integration, sub-system electrical design and integration, including but not limited to: Thermal Systems, Steering Systems, Flight Control, Propulsion, Energy Storage System (ESS), Alerting and Monitoring, Safety Systems and Cabin systems. Working within a team to bring our Artemis Technologies Ltd. (ATL) sub-systems together cohesively. Key Responsibilities: Development of electrical distribution systems including selection of components, HV/LV Harnesses, interconnections, control panels, cabling and associated support structures. Development of Electrical Architectures, Schematics, Wiring Harness Drawings, BOMs, System Overviews. Participation within engineering design reviews, evaluating impacts of engineering changes and advising on best practices. Guarantee cohesive working between engineering teams and other related departments to ensure all design aspects are considered for electrical integrations. Onboard and consult with electrical manufacturers and distributors when necessary. Support the creation of manufacturing drawings and instructions. Support the creation/update of ATL electrical standards and processes. Support vessel operations with end of line testing and aftersales if required. Collaborate with FC&E on electrical control hardware selection and system design. Support procurement team with supplier selection and sample disposition. Provide electrical engineering support to in-house builds if necessary. Development of grounding strategies, equipotential bonding, lightning protection systems and galvanic protection systems. Cable specification with consideration for; sizing through voltage drop and current calculation, insulation, shielding requirements etc. Personal Specification: Essential Education/Qualifications and Experience: Holder of Bachelor (BSc/BEng) degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar.) 3 years working in or towards an Electrical Engineering position or similar. Extensive experience in lieu of education requirements will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Key Skills Required: Technical/Design skills: Experience working with LV DC (24V), HV DC (>600V), 230VAC and 400VAC Electrical Systems. Experience working on Electric, Hydrogen, and/or Hybrid Drivelines. Knowledge of Electrical CAD packages (Zuken E3, EPlan or similar). Experience using AutoCAD (2D) and/or Catia (3D) or similar. Experienced in the selection and integration of electrical switchgear and electronics which meet all applicable specifications of the application. Ability to implement an electrical system design, i.e. providing detailed manufacturing documentation and instructions. Ability to perform electrical load calculations and flow analysis. Ability to fault find and diagnose electrical systems. Knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulations. Experience leading Electrical Projects, from initial concept through to implementation. Skilled in the creation of Wiring Schematics. Experience in the creation of Wiring Harnesses/Cable plans. Knowledge of CAN physical layer requirements. Experience with Electrical Design for EMC. Experienced in the use of electrical test equipment. Hands on practical experience around electrical systems, with knowledge of safe working practices. Communication skills: Good report writing skills – clear, concise, and well structured. Excellent interpersonal skills. Organising skills: Ability to coordinate with other departments and flag issues. A focus on ‘delivery’ to an agreed schedule. Experience using a task management software to track progress. Teamworking: Ability to relate well to others, and build co-operative and collaborative working relationships, both internally and externally.
