Job Overview
You will ensure the wellbeing of residents by supervising, maintaining, and developing the standards of care within the House; participating in direct care activities as determined by policies and procedures; and ensuring the highest level of Child Care Practice. You will use appropriate methods and techniques of Social Work intervention to meet the needs of residents.
Qualifications and Experience
* SVQ 3 and HNC in Social Care or an equivalent qualification at SCQF Level 6, with potential to achieve SVQ Level 4 in Social Care.
* Experience of working directly with children in a residential setting, report writing, and preparing care plans.
* Knowledge of National Care Standards, childcare practice, legislation, and SSSC code of practice.
* Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing.
* Ability to carry out restraints, deal with stressful situations, manage a client group with a range of emotions, lead and supervise a team, organise and delegate tasks, motivate others, and ensure a safe environment for looked after children.
* A flexible approach to work, including shift work, weekends, and covering for other staff.
Additional Requirements
* Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or achieving registration within 6 months of appointment.
* A driving licence and knowledge of child development are desirable.
This post is temporary, subject to business needs and funding for 12 months or until the requirement for the post ceases, whichever is earlier.
