About the role
We are seeking a motivated and organised Business Support Officer to join the Direct Payments Support Service (DPSS). This is a key administrative role within Social Services, supporting individuals who receive Direct Payments to manage their care and support arrangements effectively. The role delivers a high‑quality, flexible business support service in partnership with social workers, service users, payroll providers and internal teams. Key duties include ensuring accurate record keeping, responding to enquiries and correspondence, supporting meetings, managing data and reports, and maintaining efficient systems and processes.
Location & Workstyle
Your workstyle will be a mobile hybrid worker, giving you the flexibility to work from home and from council workplaces. It is a requirement to work from Neath Civic Centre a minimum of one day per week with availability from 8.30am to 4.30pm.
Responsibilities
* Have experience in an administrative or office-based role, ideally working with a wide range of people
* Be confident using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel
* Have a good understanding of following policies, procedures and maintaining accurate records
* Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and build positive working relationships
* Prioritise workload, manage time effectively and meet deadlines
* Demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
Qualifications and Requirements
* Hold a minimum of 4 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths
* Hold, or be willing to work towards, an NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration (or equivalent qualification)
DBS requirements: This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check with an adult & child barred list disclosure.
