All About the Role
Based at our CMT Steel Services, Cradley Heath site, we have an excellent career opportunity available for a Shift Supervisor; the purpose of this role is to assist the Operations Director & Shift Manager in leading & organising a production shift within the warehouse, driving processes, whilst ensuring all health and safety standards are adhered to and your team are well trained and engaged. The shift hours are Monday to Friday, 5.30am to 2pm & 1.30pm to 10.pm. on a weekly rotation
Specific tasks include:
1. Promote a safe environment and culture throughout the workforce, promoting a culture where safety always comes first, while ensuring all activities comply with Barrett Steel Health & Safety policies
2. Achieve a high level of customer service and satisfaction, promoting the Barrett Steel Quality policy and local Operating Procedures
3. Promote continuous improvement throughout all aspects of the warehouse
4. Motivate, train, and develop the shift, managing its performance, to maintain an effective team capable of meeting its current and projected objectives.
5. Ensure accuracy throughout the key areas of the warehouse structure.
6. Working with the team under the direction of the Operations Director & Shift Manager to develop and implement operational solutions without compromising quality or service while optimising cost.
7. Coordinate shift activities efficiently and effectively.
8. Filling in, when required to ensure orders are fulfilled.
9. Providing holiday cover for the other Shift Supervisors
Essential Skills for the role:
10. Ideally able to demonstrate success gained in leading/supervising a team.
11. Have an excellent working knowledge of H&S. (Ideally IOSH trained but not essential)
12. Have managed and developed or supported in effective team working.
13. Excellent communication, planning & organisational skills.
14. Computer literate & competent with standard Microsoft applications
15. Can use a side loader& FLT (favourable but not essential)
16. Looking for a long-term career – there will be training and development within the role with the potential to become a future Shift Manger or similar, dependant on your individual performance and capability.
