About The Role
As the Food Safety & Technical Assistant you will be responsible for supporting technical and food safety processes and store launches throughout the BP / Wild Bean Cafe estate. You will ensure the business follows all relevant food safety legislation and embed a culture of food safety into the business.
What You Will Deliver
* Work closely with the technical assistant to review and approve artwork, spec work, and ad hoc project work.
* Support on HACCP & SERT.
* Collaborate with the lead developer as a subject matter expert to provide technical product and ingredient knowledge for food within WBC and the wider business.
* Review and sign off new suppliers; monitor and provide feedback on performance.
* Maintain and update product specifications; advise on potential food safety risks in the supply chain.
* Assist in developing sourcing guidelines for the WBC brand in collaboration with product development, marketing, and the central team.
* Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders in the end‑to‑end supply chain and with those managing processes related to the HACCP plan or prerequisite programmes (e.g. maintenance, operations, contract managers for pest control, cleaning chemicals).
* Collaborate with the Food/Packaging and Equipment Suppliers team.
* Contract management and KPI setting for outsourced food safety/technical functions if required.
What You Will Need To Be Successful
* Educated to degree level in Food Science or a similar subject.
* HACCP level 4.
* Food Safety level 3.
* Proven experience within the food industry in factories, food service, FMCG or retail technical functions.
* Understanding of sector, market, customer and competitor.
* Experience selecting and monitoring suppliers.
* Experience in retail category sourcing and buying.
* Detail‑oriented and eager to develop a career in the evolving food retail environment.
* Knowledge of the Fresh Food and Food Service Offer.
Preferred Qualifications
* Accredited auditing qualification.
* IFST membership.
