Male Behaviour Support Worker – 1:1 Support with Challenging Male Pupils
Location: Chorley
Start Date: January 2026
Contract: Full-time, Temporary to Permanent

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a specialist provision in Chorley to recruit a Male Behaviour Support Worker to provide 1:1 support for male pupils with challenging behaviour and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

This is a full-time role to begin in January 2026, offered on a temporary-to-permanent basis following a successful initial period.

* Working on a 1:1 basis with male pupils who present with challenging behaviours and SEMH needs.

* Providing tailored support in and out of the classroom, ensuring pupils can access learning and manage their emotions positively.

* Supporting pupils with strategies to develop resilience, self-regulation, and social skills.

* Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and external agencies to ensure individual needs are met.

Due to the nature of the role and the needs of the child, there is a genuine occupational requirement (GOR) under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 for this post to be filled by a male support worker.

* Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or in a care/youth work setting is desirable.

* Confidence, resilience, and the ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils.

* A calm, consistent approach with strong behaviour management skills.

* Commitment to long-term development in a specialist setting.

* Full-time position with the opportunity to become permanent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
