SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH & Behaviour Regulation (Long Term)

Location: Tower Hamlets
Employment type: Full time
Pay: Competitive

At Teaching Personnel, we work with SEN focused primary schools where behaviour regulation, emotional consistency and skilled adult support are essential to keeping classrooms stable. These schools require experienced professionals who understand SEMH needs and can remain calm, structured and effective in high‑pressure environments.

This is not a general Teaching Assistant role. It is a carefully matched, long term SEN position for professionals whose behaviour and regulation skills need to be used properly. This role is not suitable for candidates seeking daily supply.

The role

• Supporting pupils with SEMH and behaviour needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
• Using regulation led approaches to reduce escalation and support engagement
• Helping pupils build routines, emotional awareness and positive behaviour patterns
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams
• Providing consistent support that reduces disruption and pressure on staff

Who we are looking for

We are seeking experienced behaviour and SEMH professionals, including: • SEN Teaching Assistants with SEMH experience
• Behaviour or regulation specialists
• Staff from PRUs, ARPs, specialist schools or complex mainstream settings
• Professionals from youth work, care or residential backgrounds with strong behaviour management skills

This role is not suitable for entry level candidates or those looking for short term placements.

How Teaching Personnel works differently

• You are supported by a specialist SEN consultant who understands behaviour, regulation and school pressures
• Roles are designed for stability and continuity, not reactive cover
• PAYE only, with competitive SEN weighted pay
• Ongoing consultant contact before, during and after placement

Upskilling & professional development

Long term behaviour roles require ongoing development. Through Teaching Personnel you will access:

• Thrive aligned regulation and behaviour CPD
• Support strengthening SEMH and intervention practice
• Opportunities to deepen behaviour specialism and classroom impact
• Clear pathways into long term and temp to perm roles

The schools

• Structured environments with clear routines and behaviour expectations
• Leadership teams committed to regulation and staff wellbeing
• A consistent approach to SEMH and inclusion across the school

If you are an experienced SEMH professional who wants to be placed thoughtfully in a role that works for you, apply and attach your CV.
