Job Summary
GKN Aerospace is hiring Composite Operators for multiple shifts! As a Composite Operator, you will plan layouts and perform production operations to fabricate, assemble, and develop composite parts for the aerospace industry. Work in self-directed teams with minimal supervision, following instructions and specifications to prepare, fabricate, and assemble composite parts for production and developmental programs.
Available Work Schedules:
* First Shift: Monday - Friday (6:00AM - 2:30PM)
* Second Shift: Monday - Friday (2:00PM - 10:30PM)
* Third Shift: Sunday - Thursday (10:00PM - 6:30AM)
Job Responsibilities
* Organize work areas, plan tasks, perform assigned work, and ensure quality and schedule adherence.
* Train other employees as needed.
* Assist with process problems, document issues, and follow up on open issues.
* Use hand, power, and machine tools for preparation, cleaning, and processing of molds, equipment, and parts.
* Follow procedures to cut, shape, bond, lay-up, inject, cure, trim, drill, and repair composite parts.
* Accurately record fabrication and machine parameters, maintain documentation for work-in-progress, inventories, and schedules.
* Use inspection devices to ensure quality and certify own work.
* Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Job Qualifications
Education:
* High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
* At least 1 year of experience in production, assembly, inspection, or fabrication.
* Must be a U.S. Person per ITAR regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Strong attention to detail.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to read and write instructions and perform basic shop mathematics.
* Experience with heat/oven forming and trimming materials.
* Visual acuity including color vision and depth perception.
* Ability to work in a production environment and travel within facilities.
* Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
* Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. using proper techniques.
