About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and motivated individual to join an NIHR-funded programme seeking to develop a physiotherapy/occupational therapy intervention to support patients with depressive symptoms during community-based rehabilitation after lower limb fragility fracture surgery.
Ideal Candidate
Applicants will ideally hold at least an undergraduate degree in an AHP field, health research, a related field or equivalent experience and are interested in being involved in all aspects of undertaking a funded research project in healthcare research.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the synthesis of evidence of non-surgical interventions among patients who undergo surgery for a fragility fracture.
* Conduct qualitative interview studies exploring patient and carers’ understanding and experiences and physiotherapists and occupational therapists’ understanding and experiences of current and optimal support.
* Help develop and implement a Nominal Group Technique consensus process to determine what should be included in an intervention to support patients with depressive symptoms during community rehabilitation after lower limb fragility fracture surgery.
* Involve and engage with our partner Public and Patient Involvement group ‘TROOP’ with regular meetings to discuss the research project.
Support & Development
The Research Associate will be supported by Dr Rhian Milton‑Cole, a senior clinical research fellow working on the programme. The candidate will be encouraged to develop their own career ambitions during the appointment. The team is particularly keen to appoint someone who is interested in pursuing an academic/clinical academic path.
