Internal Communications and Events Manager
From £65,000, £4,750 flex allowance, up to 20% discretionary bonus + benefits
What is the role?
This role will head up internal communications and events for London Gatwick Airport, reporting into the Head of Comms. It involves setting up the internal comms strategy at an exciting time, managing a small team, and ensuring employees across the business are informed and engaged. The role requires strong stakeholder management, line management experience, and a focus on building a consistent internal narrative. It also includes directing and organising events and managing digital, print, and face‑to‑face internal communication channels.
This role takes an office‑first hybrid approach, with three days a week in the office, two days remote, managed around the needs of the business.
What will you do?
* Lead internal communications and events strategy aligned with the airport’s business objectives.
* Own the internal channels strategy, measure reach and impact, and report on performance.
* Work directly with Exec and senior teams to craft narrative and ensure a regular rhythm of meaningful communications and events.
* Create, deliver, and evolve the internal content strategy, maintaining a consistent message house.
* Manage an Internal Communications and Events Executive and coordinate a virtual team of communication ambassadors.
* Manage budget and external suppliers supporting the internal communications strategy.
* Maintain high competency across the Microsoft suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
Do you have what we're looking for?
* Direct line‑management experience – essential.
* Proven experience as an advisory to c‑suite.
* Extensive internal communications and events experience, ideally in a fast‑moving, operational environment.
* Strong experience building trusting relationships with stakeholders, including the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team.
* Excellent writing skills, translating complex technical language into clear, everyday communication.
* Extensive relationship and interpersonal communication skills, including active listening, assertiveness, flexibility, and influencing.
* Line‑management experience required.
* Strong experience managing, measuring, and evolving internal communication channels.
* Experience delivering internal campaigns.
* Strong knowledge of internal communication best practice.
* Effective management of budgets and suppliers.
