The Opportunity
A long-established engineering manufacturer in Leeds is looking for a skilled CNC Turner & Manual Machinist to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys precision machining, varied work, and a supportive, hands-on workshop environment.
The successful candidate will operate two Haas lathes – an SL30 and a TL1 – and will also work on a range of manual machining equipment. You’ll be producing high-quality components, working from engineering drawings, and contributing to a well-respected manufacturing operation.
Key Responsibilities
* Set, operate, and program Haas CNC lathes (SL30 & TL1).
* Carry out manual machining including turning, milling, drilling, and tapping.
* Produce precision components to tight tolerances.
* Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
* Perform in-process inspection using verniers, micrometers, gauges, etc.
* Conduct tooling changes, offsets, and basic machine adjustments.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
* Work independently to manage workloads and meet production deadlines.
Requirements
* Proven experience as a CNC Turner and Manual Machinist.
* Hands-on experience with Haas CNC controls (setting & operating essential; programming advantageous).
* Ability to work to tight tolerances and engineering drawings.
* Solid understanding of machining principles and workshop practices.
* Strong attention to detail and quality focus.
* Ability to work independently in a small, busy machining team.
