Job Title: Pharmacy Technician (Band 4)
Location: Healthcare in Prison Service
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Pay: £13.57 per hour
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our Healthcare in Prison Pharmacy team. You will play a key role in delivering a high-quality, efficient medicines management and dispensing service under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Dispense prescriptions accurately using the pharmacy computer system.
2. Support medicines management, including issuing self-administration medication and counselling patients where appropriate.
3. Assist with Controlled Drugs administration and maintain registers.
4. Monitor stock levels, process requisitions, and manage returns.
5. Ensure safe storage and disposal of medicines in line with legislation.
6. Maintain accurate records on EMIS and liaise with nursing staff and contractors.
7. Uphold Health & Safety, COSHH, and infection control standards.
Essential Criteria:
8. Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Student Pharmacy Technician (14+ hours per week).
9. BTEC and NVQ3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent qualification.
10. Registered or eligible for registration with the relevant professional body.
11. Strong knowledge of medicines legislation and safe handling practices.
