Experienced Occupational Therapist – 36 Hours
Fixed Term Contract – 12 months
About The Role
An exciting opportunity is available for an Experienced Occupational Therapist to come and work in our community OT Service, working with people in their own environment, to maximise their independence, reduce need for care and support as appropriate, and supporting carers in their roles.
About The Candidate
You will develop your skills, knowledge and experience, in long term conditions management, utilising specialist equipment and major adaptations, manual handling assessment outcomes and plans, adaptive techniques, postural and functional assessments to meet needs, reduce risks and maintain functional ability, improve safety and enable or maintain their independence where possible. Working in a community role under social care, housing adaptations, and all other relevant legislation, applying relevant legislation and equipment and grant criteria, to achieve outcomes for people, supporting with daily living activities. Working collaboratively with other professionals in ASC, and the wider MDT professionals, carers, and individuals.
You will develop your leadership skills supporting students, assistants, less experienced OT staff, supporting their development learning and experience. You will be supported by experienced OT colleagues and team leaders to develop your experience and skills, and undertake monthly service CPD sessions, including external speakers and representatives, and access to external courses as relevant, and our full range of training available, accessing any leadership skills development as required.
You will receive formal support, guidance and regular monthly clinical and management supervision from team leader. We hold monthly team meetings across the service areas, bringing together all therapy staff, discussing relevant and pertinent topics, service progression and exploring developments.

Responsibilities
* Work in the community OT Service, in people's own environment, to maximise independence and reduce unnecessary care.
* Apply legislation, equipment and grant criteria relevant to housing adaptations and social care to achieve outcomes for people.
* Collaborate with ASC and MDT professionals, carers, and individuals to support daily living activities.
* Support students and junior staff, contributing to their development and learning.
* Participate in monthly CPD sessions and access external training as relevant.
* Attend monthly service meetings and contribute to service progression discussions.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Experience as an Occupational Therapist, with skills in long term conditions management, equipment use, major adaptations, and assessment techniques.
* Ability to perform manual handling assessments, postural and functional assessments, and develop plans to maintain independence and safety.
* Experience working in a community setting under social care and housing adaptation legislation.
* Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team (ASC, MDT) and with carers and individuals.
* Willingness to develop leadership skills and support learners and junior staff.
* Formal supervision and participation in regular team meetings.
* DBS check required.
