CPL in partnership with an Outstanding Specialist College is seeking a compassionate and skilled College Nurse to support young people and adults with a range of special educational needs and/or disabilities. The college operates across multiple community-based centres, delivering specialist programmes designed to meet the diverse needs of students.
Students attending the college may have profound and multiple learning disabilities, communication and behavioural difficulties, autism, and complex medical needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting students’ health, wellbeing, independence, and preparation for adulthood.
Nursing within the college goes beyond healthcare provision. The role focuses on empowering students, promoting independence, advocating for their individual needs, and working collaboratively with families, education teams, and external professionals to help students achieve their aspirations.
Key Responsibilities
* Use a person-centred approach to promote choice, independence, inclusion, and preparation for adulthood.
* Jointly set and review EHCP-related targets alongside teaching staff, support teams, and integrated services.
* Oversee medical management, healthcare plans, and medication administration.
* Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and provide clinical support across the college.
* Work collaboratively with education, health, social care, voluntary sector professionals, and families to support student outcomes.
* Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with professional standards and local clinical guidelines.
* Maintain up-to-date NMC registration and adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct and Professional Standards.
* Support students in developing life skills, confidence, and independence.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
* Degree or Graduate Diploma in Nursing.
* Current NMC Registration.
* Experience supporting individuals aged 16+ with severe/profound and multiple learning disabilities and/or autism.
* Ability to make clinical judgements using evidence-based practice.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Commitment to person-centred care and inclusive practice.
