About the role:
• The Occupational Health (OH) department provides an holistic and proactive, confidential clinical service to Convatec & Amcare colleagues across the UK and Ireland
• Liaising with People Partners (PP/HR), Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) and OH colleagues globally, as well as the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and Public Health amongst other external agencies
• Being part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team ensuring a healthy work environment and workforce, optimising safety and minimising ill health and absence
• This is a multi site remit providing OH coverage across sites (Deeside base + site support).
• The OH Advisor will decide and guide independently on clinical recommendations, surveillance interpretation, fitness-for-work guidance.
• The role must drive adoption of OH controls/adjustments with site leaders/People Partners.
• The OH Advisor will strive for cross-site standardisation/efficiency with outcomes.
Your key duties and responsibilities:
Occupational Health:
1. All legal and ethical issues surrounding Clinical Practice
2. Medical records in every format
3. Occupational Health spend within Budget.
4. Correspondence via all media
5. Occupational Health Nurse appointments and follow-ups
6. Sourcing appropriate external agencies to support OH functions where required
7. Liaising with internal & external service providers to maintain department housekeeping
Responsible for arranging and co-ordinating the Health Surveillance programme, including but not limited to:
8. Spirometry
9. Audiometry
10. Skin
11. Manual Handling Equipment (MHE) Operators
12. Night Workers
Pre-Placement Health Screening and advice
13. Confidential assessment with candidates
14. Provide report to candidate’s manager and HR on fitness to work and any reasonable adjustments
15. Assist with arranging external Agencies’ support as required
First Aid provision on the Deeside Manufacturing site
16. Arranging First Aid training on Convatec Sites as required
17. Auditing and restocking First Aid consumables and reporting process
18. Auditing and supporting First Aiders, giving guidance to encourage confidence and improve skills
Digital processes-development to optimise functionality, productivity, and enhance Data-Protection
19. Creating, managing and processing digital forms,
20. Creating & managing Automation Flows which run background actions on processes
21. Host the digitised UK Pre-Placement process on behalf of Global People Partners

23. Identifying and mitigating potential health issues
24. Promoting healthy life choices
25. Ongoing counselling and support
26. Proactive and dynamic ability to manage workload which is frequently subject to shifting priorities
27. Identify existing and emerging OH issues as affected by national and international developments and legislation
28. Assist the Business to develop strategies to meet the regulatory requirements incumbent upon it in relation to OH,
29. Knowledge of the Data Protection Laws, maintaining and processing Sensitive Data accordingly
30. Liaising with EHS and Business Partners with regard to OH Risk Assessment and Risk Management
31. Collate statistics of functions as will assist the Business to analyse and verify productivity & quality
32. Liaising with external Health and Regulatory bodies as required
33. Ensure in-date calibration and Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) as required
34. Continual Professional Development (CPD) as required by own Registration, both ongoing and periodic
35. Complete Convatec (CVT) required training as allocated.
36. Support the EHS Committee meeting and Management review.
37. Provide OH management advice to the business to support its Absence Management Policy
Skills & Experience:
38. Previous experience in Occupational Health environment in manufacturing businesses
39. Working knowledge of applicable Acts and Legislation as they apply to the Business & their profession
40. Ability to digest and interpret existing and new legislation and it’s implications on OH and the Business
41. Effective communicator with colleagues at multiple levels.
42. Proactive ability to work as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team as well as autonomously
43. Experienced in clinical interpretation of Health Surveillance results
44. IT skills including good working knowledge of Word, Excel, Adobe, Microsoft Forms, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Power Automate, Microsoft Power Apps, amongst others
45. Experienced in managing comprehensive Electronic Medical Records according to legislation and ethics, ensuring safe storage, security and confidentiality
Qualifications/Education:
46. University Advanced Diploma in Occupational Health (or similar)
47. Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a valid entry on the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC)
48. Professional Body membership and indemnity - Royal College of Nursing
49. Ongoing Continual Professional Development (CPD) as required
50. First Aid Instructor and Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) certified for First Aid Training (preferred)
Travel Requirements:
51. Occasional overnight stays from one to four nights at UK sites, approximately 14% of the year.
Working Conditions:
52. Primarily office based at Deeside, with visits to UK sites and Shop Floor as required.
Special Conditions:
53. Needs to cover all shifts as required to complete mandatory Health Surveillance
54. Flexibility to alter shifts to accommodate the various sites and their shift patterns
