Our Teynham site has an exciting opportunity for a Transport Supervisor to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term basis.
As a Transport Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading the traffic operations team and driver team, ensuring the planning of company and third-party resources, managing vehicle utilization, and providing drivers with clear instructions.
Salary: Up to £36,900 per annum.
Shift: Sunday-Wednesday, 7pm-7am.
Key Duties of a Transport Supervisor:
* Ensure colleagues work within a safe environment and that the transport operation complies with current transport regulations.
* Manage driver performance and behaviors using available technology, focusing on driver hours, infringements, driving style, and compliance checks.
* Plan and control equipment and resources to meet and exceed customer service targets.
* Plan effective utilization of drivers, vehicles, and agency drivers.
* Communicate all job elements effectively to the Transport team and drivers.
* Liaise with customers regarding concerns impacting service levels.
* Undertake additional tasks as required by management.
* Maintain discipline within the department, including punctuality, conduct, and performance, with HR support and disciplinary policies.
* Identify training and development needs, coaching and organizing solutions using knowledge and training tools.
* Support and deputize for the Transport Manager in meetings or reviews if necessary.
* Collaborate with team members and management to discuss efficiencies and operational practices.
Qualifications:
* Experience in fleet maintenance.
* Knowledge of FMCG environment.
* Current CPC (preferred).
* Experience with vehicle servicing and maintenance.
* Good knowledge of vehicle mechanics.
* Attention to detail.
* Ability to work effectively in a team.
* Good communication skills.
