We’re looking for a practical, hands‑on Maintenance Operative to join our team at Biffa in Farnham – someone who takes pride in keeping equipment in top condition and working safely.
* Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:00 – 16:30 (45 hours per week)
A quick look at the role.
In this active role, you’ll inspect and repair trade waste bins, including fitting lids and wheels, carrying out cleaning, and performing basic welding (training provided). You’ll use power tools and load/unload bins with a forklift (if qualified). You’ll also help keep the workshop tidy, follow health and safety procedures, and work well both independently and as part of a small, friendly team.
Your core responsibilities.
* Inspect, repair, and maintain trade waste bins to company standards, including replacing lids, wheels, and other parts.
* Carry out regular washing and cleaning of various sized wheeled containers.
* Use power tools and equipment safely and correctly to complete repairs and maintenance tasks.
* Perform basic welding tasks where required (training can be provided).
* Maintain a clean and organised workshop and yard area through good housekeeping practices.
* Follow all health and safety guidelines, working safely in a physically demanding role.
* Work well independently and as part of a small, hands‑on maintenance team.
* Be flexible, self‑motivated, and able to follow both verbal and written instructions accurately.

* Previous experience within a workshop environment.
* Previous experience of working in a production targeted environment.
* Previous experience of using air tools and power tools in a workshop environment.
