About the role
We are hiring two Cyber Security Analyst L1s to join our expanding SOC team based at our Head Office on the Gateshead Quayside.
As a Cyber Security Analyst L1, you will be part of our 24/7 Security Operations Centre (SOC), utilizing a variety of tools and services.
Your main duties include performing alert triage, conducting investigations, and tuning detection systems to enhance accuracy. You will also serve as the first escalation point for Associate Analysts, ensuring prompt review of complex and malicious alerts.
Efficiency and customer service are vital, as you will manage a diverse workload and uphold our service standards.
What you will be doing
1. Monitor security queues, triage alerts, and assess incident severity.
2. Conduct detailed investigations, including data correlation.
3. Escalate queries and complex tickets from Associate Analysts.
4. Assist with incident response and post-incident analysis.
5. Identify and implement improvements to detection fidelity through tuning processes.
6. Stay informed on threat intelligence and incorporate it into operations.
7. Handle customer calls professionally, acting as a primary contact for RealProtect customers and IR engagements.
8. Engage in continuous learning and professional development.
9. Collaborate with team members and participate in meetings.
10. Support vulnerability scans and generate reports.
Candidate requirements
* Experience with security tools such as CrowdStrike, Microsoft Sentinel, and Microsoft XDR.
* Background in IT-related roles.
* Willingness to work shifts.
* Knowledge of security technologies.
* Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
* Experience in security investigations and alert triage.
* Understanding of incident response and threat intelligence.
* Excellent communication skills for customer interactions.
* Teamwork and collaboration skills.
* Certifications like BTL1, TryHackMe Level 1, SANS/GIACs, SC-200, CCFR are advantageous but not essential.

Salary
£33,000 to £36,000 per annum (including a 20% shift uplift)

Location and working arrangements
Based at our Gateshead head office with travel as needed.
Hours of work
4 days on, 4 days off shift pattern, alternating between day (7am-7pm) and night (7pm-7am) shifts.
