Job overview
We are currently seeking a full time Band 4 Nursing Associate to join our busy Elective surgical Ward .
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate excellent inter-personal, communication, organisational and management skills with a drive to promote a high standard of care for our patients. Mentoring and supervision of students and junior staff will be an essential part of the role. We are a forward thinking department, and actively encourage ongoing staff and service development. You must have a compassionate and caring attitude with a real team player approach to every day.
You will need to be an enthusiastic and motivated nursing associate who is keen to develop their skills and knowledge in caring for the urology patient. If you feel you can contribute to the quality of patient care delivery in our out-patient setting then we would be very keen to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
KEY DUTIES:
· Act in the best interests of the people they care for delivering quality care and working effectively within the nursing team
· Put people first and provide nursing care that is person-centred, safe and compassionate
· Act professionally at all times
· Use knowledge and experience to make evidence based decisions and solve problems
· Recognise and work within limits of their competence
· Be accountable for their actions, working within line with NMC Standards.
· Adhere to Trust policies, procedures and guidelines of Airedale NHS Trust.
· To be competent in carrying out a variety of clinical procedures
Clinical Duties;
· To recognise changes in patient’s condition which require the intervention of others and understand when to refer to the supervising registered nurse and other senior colleagues for re assessment of patient care.
· To have the willingness to undertake additional skills and training depending on ward requirements.
· To be involved in Trust initiative to improve patient care.

· Support people to improve and maintain their mental, physical, behavioural health and wellbeing
· Active involvement in the prevention of and protection against disease and ill health

Person specification
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE Level English and Maths Grade C or equivalent
* Nursing Associate Foundation Degree/Higher Apprenticeship
Experience
* Relevant experience in healthcare
* Experience of working as part of a team
* Interest in patients with complex frailty needs
Skills
* Able to recognise when escalation to a registered nurse is required
* Experience to work across a range of IT systems including System One
* Safely handle patients in a clinical setting
* End of life care
