The role
As a Fleet Programmes Senior Project Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of delivering the UK’s No.1 Defence Priority - ensuring submarine availability through complex, high-impact programmes. This is a career-defining opportunity to lead critical projects that directly support national security, while developing your leadership and project management expertise in a dynamic and purpose-driven environment.
Day-to-day you’ll be:
1. Leading on Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality within the project.
2. Developing project documentation including plans, schedules, risk registers and technical specifications.
3. Delivering projects to agreed scope, time and budget, aligned with business success criteria.
4. Establishing and maintaining governance arrangements for project delivery.
5. Planning and monitoring programme performance, reporting regularly to senior stakeholders.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at HMNB Clyde Faslane.
Essential experience of the Fleet Programmes Senior Project Manager
6. Significant experience within the UK Submarine Enterprise.
7. Proven ability to manage complex situations and adapt strategies effectively.
8. Skilled in coaching and developing teams.
9. Proficient in project life cycles, governance, financial management, stakeholder engagement and communication.
10. Strong leadership across multiple related teams and functions.
Qualifications for the Fleet Programmes Senior Project Manager
11. Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent.
12. APM Project Management Qualification or equivalent.
13. Institute of Leadership and Management Level 5.
