Job Title: Peer Support Worker Location: Belfast Salary: Points 7-10 FTE £26,403-£27,694 (Pro rata £17,602-£18,462) Fixed Term: Fixed term contract until June 2030 Reporting to: Youth Engagement and Participation Manager Hours: 25 hours per week Leave: 25 Days (pro rata for part time hours) Pension: Employer Pension at 6% Probation: 6 months JOB PURPOSE: The Peer Project Worker will support the delivery of VOYPICs Link Up programme by using their lived experience of being a separated or unaccompanied young person to positively engage, support and empower other unaccompanied young people aged 1630. Working alongside the Link Up Participation and Advocacy Worker and wider VOYPIC team, the Peer Project Worker will help create safe, welcoming and inclusive spaces where young people can share experiences, build confidence, develop skills and strengthen connections within their communities. The role supports VOYPICs commitment to youth-led, strengths-based and participative practice. MAIN DUTIES: To use lived experience of being an unaccompanied or separated young person to engage and build trusted relationships with peers. To support young people to feel welcomed, included and confident when attending groups, workshops and activities. To assist in the delivery of group work, social activities, cultural visits and community engagement opportunities. To support young people to share their views, ideas and experiences safely through forums, discussions, co-production activities and decision makers. To assist in the co-delivery of community education workshops that raise awareness of the experiences and issues affecting unaccompanied young people. To support participation in the SUASC Forum and other youth-led spaces. To encourage peer support, connection and positive relationships between young people. To assist young people in understanding and accessing services, opportunities and information, with support from staff when needed. To help gather feedback from young people to inform service development and evaluation. To maintain appropriate boundaries, confidentiality and professional behaviour at all times. To work as part of the Link Up programme team and alongside VOYPIC staff. To participate in regular support, supervision and reflective practice. To work evenings and weekends as necessary. General Responsibilities To comply with and implement VOYPICs policies and procedures. To work in line with VOYPICs safeguarding, confidentiality, equality, GDPR and health & safety policies. To attend and participate in team meetings and other relevant meetings as appropriate To attend training courses as appropriate. To contribute to the activities, promotion and development of VOYPIC as an agency. working on behalf of children and young people. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role. The key responsibilities above give a broad outline of the functions of the post. However, these duties must be approached in a flexible manner. The post holder will be expected to adapt to changing circumstances and undertake other duties appropriate to the grade of the post as allocated by your line manager.
