Location: HMP Berwyn, Wrexham Industrial Estate, Bridge Rd N, Wrexham LL13 9QE
Standard hours: 39 hours per week; Thursday 07:30 – 16:30, Friday 07:30 – 15:30; 1 in 4 weekends; 2 rest days the week after.
Amey supports the Justice Service by providing safe, clean, and efficient prisons across 60 secure premises in England and Wales. The Electrician plays an important part in ensuring planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out safely, compliantly, and timely.
Responsibilities
* Ensuring Health & Safety standards are met across the contract
* Testing and inspecting electrical installations in line with current IEE wiring regulations
* Responding promptly to breakdowns, ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently
* Performing planned and preventative electrical maintenance and diagnosing/replacing failed domestic electrical components
* Actively fault finding and problem solving on domestic electrical systems
* Undertaking electrical installation activities according to provided designs and IET Wiring Regulations
* Monitoring and ordering critical spares for all electrical services, and oversee the BMS System
* Supporting zero carbon initiatives, contributing to sustainability goals, and handling additional tasks as directed by your line manager
Qualifications
* Appropriate technical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds 2365 parts 1‑3, BTEC, NVQ level 3 or above).
* BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, 18th edition.
* Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations.
* Experience of electrical maintenance activities, general distribution, installation, and testing.
* Ability to work alone and use initiative.
* Capable of working at heights.
Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).
