Senior Mechanical Tooling Designer
Contract – 12 months. Rate £45 per hour inside IR35. Location – Derby, 5x per week.
Are you an experienced Tooling or Mechanical Designer looking to work on cutting‑edge defence engineering projects? This is an excellent opportunity for talented engineers to join a high‑performing team delivering tooling, fixtures, and mechanical design solutions for major new‑build programmes within a highly regulated engineering environment.
Role Responsibilities
* Designing tooling, jigs, fixtures, and mechanical components.
* Producing concept and detailed 3D CAD designs.
* Solving complex engineering and manufacturing challenges.
* Modifying and improving designs to meet project requirements.
* Supporting safety, reliability, and performance reviews.
* Producing technical documentation and reports.
* Managing design risks and project scope.
Key Skills
* Experience in Tooling Design or Mechanical Design.
* Background in defence, nuclear, aerospace, or heavy engineering environments.
* Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and materials.
* Experience with Siemens NX or similar 3D CAD systems.
* Familiarity with Teamcentre or similar PLM systems.
* Understanding of engineering standards and safety legislation.
This role requires UK Security Clearance!
