Responsibilities
Allan Myers is currently interviewing qualified candidates for the 2025 Paving Season.
This position involves heavy physical duties related to asphalt milling and paving, which may be semi-skilled or skilled. Duties vary based on the crew's assigned tasks. A laborer can specialize in roles such as Screed Person, Lute Person, QC Tech, Side Person (mill), Tack Truck Driver, Water Truck Driver, Utility Adjustment Person, etc.
Overnight stays and night/weekend shifts are common during the milling and paving season. Travel within PA, Delaware, and Maryland may be required.
* Perform shoveling, raking, luting, jackhammering, heavy lifting, and use of small tools related to asphalt milling and paving.
* Clean tools, materials, and work areas.
* Perform manual tasks requiring fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination.
* Work safely, respecting safety protocols.
* Communicate effectively with team members for safety and task completion.
* Depending on the crew's specialty, skills may include use of hand and power tools, grade checks, directing equipment, and more.
* Follow all safety policies, including 'Safety, Safety, Safety!', 'Home Safe Tonight', and 'AIPS'.
Physical Demands
* Heavy physical activity requiring dexterity and motor skills.
* Ability to carry loads up to 75 pounds.
* Work in various weather conditions.
* Stand, walk, reach, kneel, climb, or balance as needed.
* Vision requirements include close, color, and peripheral vision.
Work Environment
* Prioritize safety for self and others.
* Work conditions vary by site and weather.
* Potential hazards include rough sites, heavy equipment, loud noises, vibrations, and proximity to traffic.
* May work in confined spaces like manholes and inlets.
Qualifications
* GED/HS Diploma is a plus.
* Trade School or Penndot Paving QC experience is a plus.
* Experience with TopCon or similar grade control is a plus.
* CDL (A, B, Tanker, Hazmat) is a plus.
* Tack Truck experience is a plus.
* At least 2 years of related work experience required.
* Valid active driver's license required, with a good MVR.
