Director of DDaT Delivery, Consultancy, Governance & Strategy

Join the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) in a pivotal leadership role, where you'll strategically lead the Delivery, Governance, Consultancy, and Strategy team to deliver a complex Digital, Data, and Technology (DDaT) agenda.

You will inspire a team including Delivery Consultants and Governance and IT Service Management Specialists to improve efficiencies, champion continuous improvement, and enforce robust governance controls to monitor and manage deliverables and services. Leading DDaT strategy creation and implementation, you'll drive professional excellence, including compliance with government standards.

We're looking for an individual who applies professional curiosity, drives a compelling vision, aligns diverse teams and stakeholders, and supports shaping the NHSBSA's strategic position within the broader healthcare system.

Our organization is committed to flexibility and currently operates in a hybrid working model. The office base is in Newcastle upon Tyne, with expectations for in-person collaboration multiple times a week.

Interviews are scheduled to take place in Newcastle on 9th and 11th July.

Main duties of the job

As a senior leader and NHSBSA Leadership Team member reporting to the Chief DDaT Officer, you'll deliver sustainable transformation, leveraging the benefits of providing national-scale services.

Responsibilities include providing strategic leadership to a department of DDaT professionals, maximizing and optimizing performance, establishing financial and commercial governance, developing internal performance management systems, interpreting and implementing policies, overseeing service delivery governance, managing stakeholder relationships, leading IT service management following ITIL best practices, developing service insights from complex data, and leading large-scale change and transformation initiatives.

Job summary: This role provides strategic, technical, and professional expertise to deliver a complex DDaT agenda, managing resources, setting KPIs, and ensuring value and efficiency. Responsibilities include developing and implementing strategies, policies, and procedures, managing a diverse workforce, and driving continuous improvement and innovation.

As a member of the NHSBSA DDaT Senior Management Team, you'll maintain staff engagement, lead, inspire, and develop colleagues, and build trusted relationships with external partners. You'll develop and maintain strategies for professional excellence, ensure compliance with standards, manage service delivery, and promote a high-performance culture aligned with NHSBSA's strategy.

Accountabilities include supporting organizational vision, providing strategic leadership, interpreting policies, ensuring fit-for-purpose platforms, championing efficiency, overseeing governance, managing stakeholder relationships, leading IT service management, and driving data-led decision-making and strategic projects.

Lead large-scale change and innovation, foster a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement, and manage complex stakeholder landscapes.


Person Specification


Experience

* Leading similar DDaT functions and services
* Managing complex budgets
* Experience in the public sector at a senior level


Qualifications

* Degree in a relevant subject (e.g., Computer Science, Leadership, Project Management) or equivalent experience, plus an additional business qualification (e.g., MBA)
* ITIL certification or equivalent
* Masters degree in relevant field
* Programme and Project Management certifications (e.g., Prince2, MSP, Agile, SAFE)
