Job Description:
We are searching for an experienced Principal Acoustics Consultant at our Birmingham facility.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
We are looking for a Principal Acoustic Consultant to join our Acoustics Team in Birmingham, working within the Air Quality & Noise Team, part of our UK Environment & Infrastructure Division.
Our projects involve defining, designing, and managing projects that create shared value in a complex, urbanising, resource-scarce world. We value our people and seek those passionate about solving meaningful problems. The role offers challenging and rewarding work, with support at every step.
What you’ll be doing
You will work in a multidisciplinary environment with experienced colleagues. We promote good work/life balance within a diverse and friendly team. You will develop advanced expertise in acoustics, liaising with clients, developing relationships, preparing proposals, and conducting assessments. Responsibilities include data collection, computer modeling, measurements, analysis, report writing, and producing design specifications. You will also manage projects within budgets and timelines, attend meetings, support business development, and provide technical reviews.
Who we are looking for
You should have solid senior/principal level experience, a collaborative approach, and strong relationship skills. Education in acoustics or physics (MSc/MEng or BSc/BEng) is preferred, along with professional memberships (AMIOA, MIOA). You must be technically proficient in environmental acoustics, monitoring, modeling, and legislation. IT skills should include mapping, acoustic modeling, and ideally AutoCAD. Strong analytical, problem-solving, financial, and project management skills are essential. Travel may be required, so a full UK driving license is necessary.
What’s in it for you
We offer competitive salaries, benefits such as holiday allowances, pension, health schemes, share options, life assurance, cycle-to-work, professional development, flexible working, and a supportive work environment that values diversity and wellbeing.
Next steps
The Talent Acquisition Team will contact you regarding your application. Successful candidates will undergo interviews with the team. We aim to respond within seven working days. We welcome your application if this aligns with your career goals.
