Senior Technologist – Test Method Validation
Location: Witney, Oxfordshire
THE OPPORTUNITY:
Abbott Diabetes Care, a leader in glucose monitoring systems, has a Global Centre of Excellence for Medical Devices in Witney, Oxfordshire. The site manufactures test strips and has contributed to the development of the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System launched in September 2014.
We are seeking a Senior Technologist – Test Method Validation to join our Technical Services team supporting manufacturing, focusing on analytical test method validation.
Your role will involve leading test method validation efforts, supporting development of chromatographic methods (HPLC and GCMS) for residual solvents and APIs, with hands-on experience in laboratory equipment and instrumentation control software. Your responsibilities include:
* Demonstrating laboratory expertise with HPLC, GC, UV, and MS detection systems.
* Creating test method documents such as SOPs, batch records, validation protocols, and reports.
* Ensuring compliance with industry standards and GLP guidelines.
* Performing risk assessments, technical investigations, and implementing corrective actions.
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams on validation workstreams (software, equipment, process).
* Maintaining detailed records and documentation of validation activities.
* Validating lab instrument software, managing change control, and configuration activities, with knowledge of 21CFR part 11 requirements.
ABOUT YOU:
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline and have prior experience in analytical lab work and test method validation. You should possess excellent attention to detail, a logical approach to problem-solving, project management skills, and adaptability. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for working with various teams. You should enjoy data interpretation and report writing, with experience in analyzing results and making material or method recommendations.
Hands-on practical skills are important, as you will spend time in manufacturing facilities. Good IT skills, especially in Excel and PowerPoint, are required.
