Job Responsibilities
1. Ensure food production standards are maintained as agreed with the Head Pastry Chef & Executive Chef.
2. Oversee the smooth and efficient running of the section.
3. Plan, prepare, cook, and present food to the standards required by the company and clients.
4. Enhance the company's reputation for excellent food and service; control portion sizes and monitor waste.
5. Ensure supplies are correctly issued, used, and accounted for; carry out stock takes and food rotation procedures.
6. Maintain records related to food production activities and supplier information as required by the Director of Catering.
7. Maintain Health and Safety and Food Safety Standards in line with company policy.
8. Create new and exciting desserts to renew menus and engage customers.
9. Decorate pastries using various icings and toppings for attractive presentation.
10. Monitor stocks of baking ingredients and make appropriate orders within budget.
11. Check the quality of materials and condition of equipment used for cooking.
12. Guide and motivate pastry assistants and bakers for improved efficiency.
13. Maintain a clean and orderly cooking station, adhering to health and safety standards.
Qualifications
* Experience in Education catering preferred.
* Progressive career history.
* Up-to-date with current food trends.
* Passion for food and customer service.
* Good Health & Safety knowledge.
* Ability to work within set budgets.
* Skills in menu costing and planning.
* Experience in training and coaching teams.
