Social Worker

The closing date is 07 April 2026

We are looking to recruit a social worker to our Adult Safeguarding Team in Salford. The ideal candidate will have a passion for social work, enabling effective integrated working with colleagues in health, housing, police, and other partners, promoting independence through reablement approaches and safeguarding vulnerable adults.

Your responsibilities will include carrying out social work duties with the highest levels of skill, knowledge and professional expertise. You will work as part of a team with both your colleagues and partner organisations. Successful candidates will receive a full induction and ongoing support to settle into the role.

Main duties of the job

You will be a skilled, effective practitioner acting with considerable autonomy. You will have an in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, particularly the Care Act 2014, and be skilled in undertaking strengths‑based, outcomes‑focused social care assessments, person‑centred support planning and reviews.

You will safeguard vulnerable adults following the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal, develop robust protection plans and carry out Section 42 enquiries. You will communicate effectively and work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team to achieve successful outcomes for Salford residents. At an experienced level you will demonstrate expert practice in complex situations, assessing and managing higher levels of risk while promoting enablement and self‑determination.

You will network and liaise with a wide range of professionals and senior colleagues, manage a caseload and offer expert opinion both inside and outside the organisation. You will be skilled in carrying out mental capacity assessments and holding best‑interest meetings.
