Product Development Engineer Employment Type: Full-Time / Permanent Department: Quality Assurance Location: Stoke-on-Trent About the Role This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing and forward-thinking Quality Assurance team as a Product Development Engineer. You will play a critical role in shaping product quality, safety, and innovation across a diverse portfolio of consumer products. This position sits at the intersection of engineering, testing, and product improvement. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities to enhance product performance, diagnosing faults, and driving continuous improvement through structured testing and analysis. Key Responsibilities Lead product evaluation and testing to assess performance, durability, and compliance. Investigate product failures, customer returns, and trends to identify root causes and improvement opportunities Collaborate with internal teams including Quality, Buying, and Engineering to implement product enhancements Review technical documentation, including schematics and specifications, to support product analysis Develop and maintain detailed test procedures, reports, and documentation Support the design and development of test equipment and methodologies Contribute to the creation and operation of a life testing facility, pushing products to their limits to identify weaknesses Ensure all testing aligns with relevant UK and EU regulations and standards Benchmark competitor products to identify industry trends and innovation opportunities Manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines What We're Looking For HND, A-Level, or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Manufacturing, Automotive, Aeronautical), or equivalent hands-on experience Strong practical skills in mechanical and/or electrical engineering Proven experience in product testing, development, or quality assurance environments Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work Confident communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team Comfortable working under pressure and managing multiple priorities Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word Desirable Experience Experience working with Quality Management Systems (e.g. ISO 9001). Knowledge of UK and international product compliance standards (e.g. UKCA, CE, LVD, IP ratings). Experience in a technical testing or laboratory environment Background in testing products with mechanical, electrical, and electronic components Experience developing structured test plans and protocols Why Join Us?
