Overview
SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPIST (band 5 or 6 depending on experience, newly qualified therapists considered).
Based in the Clinical Team, Children’s Services, Sutherland House School, Nottingham.
Salary: Equivalent to NHS Band 5 (£31,049 - £37,796) OR Band 6 (£38,682 - £46,580) depending on experience. Hours: Full time (37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks a year) or part time considered.
Autism East Midlands offers a wide range of services supporting people affected by Autism in Nottinghamshire and the surrounding area, including day and residential services for adults, specialist schools (4-19 yrs), outreach and family services. The school clinical team includes Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Art Therapy.
The post is to expand the team in school and permanently employ a speech and language therapist (band 5 or 6 depending on experience). Newly qualified therapists would be considered. Annualised hours and flexible working are considered.
Responsibilities
* You would be providing person centred speech and language therapy support as part of the school's on-site clinical team.
* Work closely with education colleagues to support the progress and development of students in line with their EHCP.
* Assess communication needs and develop systems of communication and programmes of intervention for a specific caseload.
* Support training in topics associated with learning, communication, and autism.
* Be involved in MDT meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
* Empathic, creative and skilled speech and language therapist with relevant experience working with autistic children and young people.
* Experience with autism and, ideally, with learners who have learning disabilities; a desire to further develop knowledge and skills in evidence-based practice.
* Interest in working within an integrated multi-disciplinary clinical team and in school-based settings.
