Central Recruitment is working with a London-based charity dedicated to preventing homelessness and supporting individuals in rebuilding their lives.
Our client is currently recruiting for a Senior Outreach Worker to work in the Redbridge area for a street-based outreach service that provides support and assistance to individuals experiencing homelessness.
* 37.5 hours per week
* Shifts: Monday - Friday, 06:00 - 14:30
* Temporary: approx. 1-2 months
* £18.41 per hour (£16.43 per hour, with £1.98 holiday pay)
Please note: this is an outreach working role and involves travelling across the borough of Redbridge supporting clients in the community. You must be able and willing to travel at times when public transport may not be readily available.
Key responsibilities:
* Conduct initial assessments of new rough sleepers and provide ongoing casework support
* Plan and deliver street outreach shifts using referral and mapping data to identify and verify rough sleepers
* Support access to accommodation and relevant services
* Coordinate annual street counts, hotspot mapping, and rough sleeping data collection
* Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, maintaining effective liaison with support services
* Assist clients in accessing accommodation, healthcare, housing advice, day centres, and other support
* Support crisis intervention work for complex cases alongside the Team Manager
* Build and maintain partnerships with local and regional organisations
* Contribute to service development in line with local and national strategies
* Collaborate on outreach initiatives such as cold weather provision and street counts
* Support voluntary returns and liaise with Immigration Enforcement where appropriate.
* Assist the Service Manager with budget monitoring and oversight of volunteer expenses and timesheets
What we’re looking for:
* Experience working with rough sleepers
* Knowledge of immigration and benefit entitlement issues
* An understanding of quality customer-focused service principles
* Awareness of London-based and national agencies, rough sleeper initiatives, and single service offer approach
* Understanding of barriers faced by rough sleepers and available support services
* Understanding of planned support principles and working with vulnerable people
* Ability to work under pressure, and effective schedule management
* Ability to dynamically risk-assess situations
* Ability to work in a multiagency framework and coordinate the response of partner agencies
* Flexibly to work early mornings to better identify and engage individuals rough sleeping
Further requirements:
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
* Current valid right to work in the UK
* Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
* A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
* Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
