Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a maternity cover Physiotherapy Team Lead within Acute Unscheduled Care based at University Hospital Crosshouse.

Hours and Shift Pattern:

37 hours

Participation in physiotherapy on call rota is required. This post is offered on a fixed term to 20th February 2027.

What you will do:

Leadership and Management

• Provide day to day management, co-ordinating and supervising the work of a physiotherapy team in order to provide a high quality physiotherapy service within the specified service area.

• To provide support to the Physiotherapy Service Managers and other Team Leaders in managing and delivering an efficient, equitable and responsive Physiotherapy service.

• Implement and influence policies and procedures within the specified service area • Authorised signatory and holds a delegated budget for the team • To undertake and support clinical and other audit and research within the specialist service area.

• To lead on an Ayrshire wide physiotherapy portfolio Official

Clinical

• To work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing specialist knowledge and skills.

• To act autonomously in assessing, diagnosing and care planning patients within a managed caseload. To deliver high quality Physiotherapy care to service users with a wide range of clinical needs.

• To plan, organise and manage a varied caseload, treating a diverse range of patients, within a variety of health and social care settings, ensuring appropriate delegation and ongoing supervision of previously assessed patients to Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy Assistants as appropriate.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Education

• Registered professional qualification in physiotherapy and HCPC registered.

• Evidence of relevant post registration education and development

• Demonstrate evidence of appropriate CPD (Clinical and Leadership/Management).

Professional Experience

• Evidence of team management experience and developing innovative and creative physiotherapy solutions to achieve local objectives.

• Demonstrate understanding of clinical governance principles and the delivery of systems and frameworks to establish clear accountabilities based on professional codes of practice.

• Extensive experience of working in the profession, including advanced theoretical experience and demonstrated practical skills at highly specialist clinical level within physiotherapy services.

• Evidence of attendance at formal management/leadership courses.

• Evidence of audit and research activity.

Core Competencies

• Ability to contribute to and influence the strategic agenda and translate strategy into deliverable operational objectives at a team level.

• Ability to implement and use processes and systems to support strategic priority • Demonstrates an understanding of the strategic workings of the organisation

• Demonstrates an understanding of corporate governance.

• Demonstrates innovative approach, seeking new or alternative methods of service delivery.

• Awareness and understanding of relevant national and local initiatives, imperatives and factors influencing service provision within the speciality.

• Demonstrates ability to use continuous improvement methodologies to ensure implementation of specific clinical improvements at a team level. Official

• Knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards and the regulatory framework, e.g. NHS Quality Improvement Scotland.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written and presentation).

• Promotes collaboration and team working internal and external to Physiotherapy and the organisation.

• Evidence of motivational and leadership skills and team management/development.
