About the Role:
One of my local government clients is seeking an experienced Executive Support Manager to lead and manage the Chief Officer Support Service, providing high-level support to Executive Directors and the Strategic Directorate Teams.
This is a key leadership role, responsible for ensuring efficient and professional delivery of executive support services, managing a team of personal assistants, and acting as a strategic advisor to the Executive Directors.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage a team of Executive PAs
*
Provide direct strategic support to Executive Directors, including horizon scanning, commissioning briefs, and stakeholder management
*
Coordinate Cabinet Member briefings and act as liaison for councillors, stakeholders, and internal teams
*
Draft, review, and commission briefing materials for internal/external meetings
*
Maintain information protocols and lead cross-departmental coordination
*
Use political awareness and judgement to manage sensitive communications
*
Deliver strategic priorities and support high-level decision making across the Directorate
Ideal Candidate:
*
Proven experience in a senior EA/Executive Support or Business Management role
*
Line management of business support or PA teams
*
Strong organisational and leadership skills
*
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*
Experience working within a local authority, council or political environment
*
Confidence dealing with senior stakeholders, MPs, councillors, and directors
