About the role
We are seeking an AV and IT Support Officer to play a vital role in supporting the school’s IT and Audio-Visual (AV) systems. This is a hands‑on role providing frontline support to staff and pupils, troubleshooting technical issues, and assisting in maintaining and improving IT and AV infrastructure across the school.
You will be part of a collaborative team within the IT Services department, reporting to the IT Support Manager, and ensuring that technology continues to enhance teaching, learning, and the wider school experience.
Key Responsibilities
Service Desk
* Provide frontline technical support via the Service Desk on a rota basis.
* Manage and prioritise IT support tickets, ensuring timely resolution within SLAs.
* Monitor trends in support requests and implement improvements to reduce ticket volumes.
* Maintain excellent communication with users and keep them updated on progress.
Technical Support
* Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
* Deliver technical assistance in person, remotely, or via documentation.
* Work with colleagues to identify root causes and deliver long‑term solutions.
* Maintain clear, detailed records of technical issues and resolutions.
* Provide AV support for school events including assemblies, concerts, plays, exams, and open days.
* Support internal and external exams including oral, written, and music assessments.
* Manage and maintain AV systems, equipment loans, and digital signage.
* Deliver digital audio and video recording, editing, and post‑production as required.
* Stay up to date with emerging technologies and IT service management best practices.
* Recommend system upgrades and new technologies aligned with school priorities.
* Actively engage in professional development to support personal and departmental growth.
General
* Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
* Support other school departments such as reprographics when required.
* Carry out any reasonable tasks requested by the IT Support Manager.
About You
We are looking for a proactive and resourceful individual with:
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to support users at all levels.
* Proven experience providing IT support in an SME or similar environment.
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and management platforms.
* Hands‑on experience with end‑user devices (laptops, desktops, tablets, telephony, printers).
* A methodical approach to problem‑solving with the ability to work under pressure.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Knowledge of ITIL practices (desirable).
