An exciting opportunity has become available for five Team Supports working shifts in our Telecoms Network Management Centre (NMC) in Taunton. The NMC Team Support provide support to our Engineers who maintain our Telecoms and SCADA Networks, working with our Field Operations, Design and Commercial teams to deliver a reliable, resilient and secure solution in a fast and evolving space. The successful candidate may initially be appointed on a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete. Hybrid or remote working is not possible with this role. You will need English and Maths GCSE Grade C/Level 4 or above OR Functional Skills Level 2 or above to apply. Main Responsibilities The specific main tasks include: - Coordinating the team’s response to Telecoms Network and SCADA faults. Responding to customer enquiries both verbally and in writing. Administering access and supervision on communications sites. Use of computer systems as required by the role. Providing support to other team members as and when required. Managing your own working time to ensure that jobs are completed in the most efficient manner. Working with colleagues and customers to ensure a continuity of service. Working safely and in accordance with agreed National Grid procedures and techniques. The Ideal Candidate You would ideally have experience of working in a Network Management Centre or Control Room environment. You will be required to provide support within the National Grid Telecoms Network Management Centre, liaising with engineers, customers and contractors. You should be committed to providing outstanding customer service and have an ability to communicate well with both colleagues and customers. Ideally, have excellent computer skills particularly with Microsoft office at an intermediate level. You should also have the ability to learn new computer applications quickly; however, applications are also encouraged from staff that are able to demonstrate that they have a suitable background and the motivation to make a success of this opportunity. A five-week shift pattern exists in the Telecoms Network Management Centre providing 24/7 coverage, the successful candidate will be expected to work the shift pattern as business needs direct. This can be discussed at interview. For the initial three months there will be an intensive training program to be followed which will be during office hours before shift work starts. If you are offered a position, you will be required to undertake and successfully complete a BS7858 security screening check. Please note that successful candidates will be invited to a selection day on 6 th August in Taunton, final interviews will then be held on either 12 th or 13 th August in Taunton. It is hoped that the successful candidates will start on Monday 29 th September.
