Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support a number of our valued partner schools in Kettering. This rewarding role involves working closely with students who have a range of complex needs, including severe autism, physical disabilities, and additional learning needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting students to access education in a safe, supportive and engaging environment.
This position is ideal for individuals who are patient, proactive, and passionate about helping young people achieve their full potential. You will work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to deliver tailored support that meets the individual needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with complex SEN needs
Assist students with personal care, ensuring dignity, safety and wellbeing at all times
Support pupils with severe autism and physical disabilities, adapting approaches to meet individual needs
Encourage engagement in lessons and support the development of communication and social skills
Assist with mobility and physical support where required
Actively participate in extra-curricular activities, including forest school sessions, swimming lessons, outdoor learning, and enrichment activities
Build positive relationships with students, staff and families
Maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs, particularly autism and physical disabilities
A compassionate, patient and resilient approach
Willingness and confidence to support personal care
A proactive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
A genuine interest in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom
Flexibility to work across a small number of partner schools in the Kettering area
