This post is part-time, 31 hours per week and fixed term until 20 June 2026. The salary stated above is the pro-rata amount, the full-time salary would be £29,693 per annum. We are seeking to appoint a Graduate Technician, skilled in fashion design/garment construction, to provide customer-focused technical support within our Fashion studios. The successful post-holder will also be supporting the core activities of the colleagues and students at the Westminster School of Arts and will be joining a dynamic team of four highly skilled technicians. This role will also be considered for job share if appropriate, 16 hours per week and 15 hours per week split will be considered. Role holder is also expected to work Saturdays. The postholder will assist technical staff with supervising the specialist machine room, and completing small sewing tasks such as Buttonholes for students, as needed. Post holder will also assist in the compliance with health and safety regulations throughout the fashion spaces and report any concerns back to senior members of staff. Other key responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting technical team with preparing materials for workshops including the creation of additional learning materials like step-by-step handouts, maintaining equipment and facilitating the running of our digital plotting service. They should demonstrate a strong interest in garment construction and proficiency with basic flatbed sewing machines and overlockers. As this role involves assisting students, candidates must be reliable, professional, and possess strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to an inclusive team environment. The successful applicant will be a recent Fashion Design graduate at either an undergraduate or postgraduate level.
