Why choose DHL eCommerce UK?
Want to work for one of the UK’s best workplaces? DHL eCommerce UK has been recognised as a Best Workplace 202x and achieved Top Employer accreditation for the 5th year running. In addition to competitive pay, you will be entitled to a range of benefits including discount vouchers for restaurants, cinemas, retail outlets, healthcare and more, as well as pension, enhanced family leave, childcare discounts, an employee assistance programme and more.
About the role
You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old. They’re a joy to drive and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leather seats and many other options to keep you comfortable.
Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with a 45 hour working week and 9 hour shifts per day typically starting at 5/6pm. Our well-organised shift schedules often let you know in advance where you’ll be driving, reducing day-to-day stress.
The role offers job security within a growing global business. We operate a busy fleet, so there’s always work available, and you can take on additional hours with enhanced pay for bank holidays.
You’ll join a friendly team—our drivers often stay with us for many years. We support each other, including sharing traffic updates through WhatsApp.
Key Role Responsibilities
* We don’t micromanage drivers. Plan your own routes and trunk to regional hubs on the night shift.
* Independence on the open road for long stretches while returning home at the end of every 9-hour shift.
* Ensure cages, pallets, freight, stillages and yorks reach customers on time. At some sites, goods are loaded/unloaded for you; at others, you’ll do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks may be required.
* Inspect your vehicle and trailer daily and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
* Ensure everything is ‘right first time’ for internal and external customers and communicate any unanswered queries to the site manager promptly.
Qualifications
* Class 1 Driving licence as a minimum requirement.
* Driver CPC qualification card.
* Completed required DCPC training hours or be working toward them.
* Excellent knowledge of Road Transport Laws and a commitment to safe road use.
* A ‘can do’ attitude.
