Maintenance Supervisor – Portgodon – Renewable Energy & Industrial Processing
Our client is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to join their Engineering team at their Portgordon site. The successful candidate will lead site maintenance activities, ensuring plant reliability, safety compliance, and efficient operation while supporting the Area Maintenance Leader in delivering maintenance strategy, budgets, and performance targets.
The Role
As the Maintenance Supervisor, you will manage day-to-day maintenance operations across the site, ensuring both planned and reactive maintenance activities are delivered safely and efficiently.
You will lead fault diagnosis, implement corrective actions to prevent repeat failures, and support continuous improvement initiatives that improve plant reliability and reduce downtime. The role also includes leadership of the maintenance team, ensuring technicians are trained, supported, and working safely.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Reliability
* Plan and schedule maintenance activities to maximise plant reliability and minimise downtime
* Manage reactive maintenance requests and allocate resources effectively
* Lead fault finding, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
* Ensure all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities are completed
* Maintain accurate maintenance records within the CMMS system
* Manage spare parts inventory and support reliability studies (FMECA)
* Support plant shutdown planning and improvement reviews
Safety & Compliance
* Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company and legal standards
* Maintain and audit SOPs, risk assessments, and safe systems of work
* Ensure compliance with ATEX, pressure systems regulations, and Control of Work procedures
* Manage contractors and support internal and external audits
* Ensure compliance with environmental and quality standards such as PAS110
Leadership & Performance
* Lead and develop the site maintenance team
* Identify training needs and support technician development
* Monitor KPIs and maintenance performance, implementing improvements where required
* Support preparation and management of the site maintenance budget
Continuous Improvement
* Identify and implement engineering improvements that increase reliability and extend asset life
Experience
Essential
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a modern manufacturing or industrial environment
* Experience supervising or leading a maintenance team
* Strong background in plant maintenance and fault diagnosis
Preferred
* Experience within anaerobic digestion, renewable energy, or similar industrial processes
* Experience with commissioning or site start-up
* Experience working within quality or compliance systems (e.g. PAS110)
Qualifications
Essential
* HND or equivalent in an Engineering discipline (or demonstrable experience)
* Full UK driving licence
Preferred
* IOSH or other safety qualification
* Six Sigma or process improvement training
