Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland. Most people donât think too much about how clean water reaches their taps. Or what happens to their wastewater.  But Scottish Water does. In fact, itâs all we think about.  Sound good? Join us as a Buyer to be on the front lines of making sure Scotlandâs water is totally, dependably pure. What youâll do   Youâll be part of a team serving our internal customers by purchasing the goods and services that keep the company running. Youâll ensure compliance with our Purchase to Pay process while supporting the business and looking for any improvements to procedures. Day-to-day, youâll create purchase orders and liaise with order requestors to ensure goods can be receipted for prompt payment. We are a very busy department, managing around 36,000 orders per year so thereâs lots to do. What youâll bring   You'll have excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise workloads alongside managing urgent work that may arise. You'll be customer-focused, committed to going the extra mile to ensure excellent customer service is provided. You'll be proactive and driven with the desire to take ownership to ensure the highest level of customer experience. Excellent communication and influencing skills are essential in this role, and you will have the ability to drill down to understand the root cause of a problem, work well with other team members and have a desire to embrace change and a culture of continuous improvement. Comfortable turning your mouse-clicking finger to new computer systems? Weâll get you up to speed. Looking out for you   While the work we do is important, we know itâs not the only thing that matters. Thatâs why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.  But youâll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community. When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.  For your future, thereâs our pension (the âknow-what-youâll-get-when-you-retireâ kind), as well as life assurance.  As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash â handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping. The not-so-small print   This role will be a Grade 3. If youâre new to Scottish Water, youâll join us on a starting salary of £28,830. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £32,850. If youâre interested in this role â or know someone else who might be - weâll be accepting applications until Monday 10th November at midnight. We operate Balanced Hybrid working at Scottish Water and we encourage people to work half their time in a Scottish Water location. Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc. Screening is conducted on our behalf by a third party, and must be completed before your start date. Donât worry - weâll only start these checks once youâve accepted an offer. ⯠ A few final things worth knowing⦠ Research shows that some people avoid applying for jobs unless they can meet every single criteria. If youâre interested in this job, but donât tick all the boxes, apply anyway! We hardly ever hire people who can do every part of a job from Day One. Everyone has a learning curve. So donât rule yourself out!  Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. Lots of our people have disabilities or neurodiverse conditions (including some of our recruiters!). We're also aware that some people might be experiencing temporary challenges because of life events, like menopause. Weâre very used to making adjustments, so please donât be afraid to ask.  As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, itâs important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland. If you donât already live here, you'll need to commit to moving here within your first three months. Please note, Scottish Water takes the safety, health and wellbeing of our employees, colleagues and customers very seriously and as such you may be subject to Drug & Alcohol testing in line with our policy. Finally (finally!), candidates who havenât submitted an application in the last 12 months will have their records removed from our recruitment database. You wonât need to do anything. Your data will be automatically deleted. Weâre here to help. Ask us anything a t SWRecruitment@ScottishWater.co.uk Â
