Job Description (Full or Part-Time Considered)
Murdoch's is looking to recruit a Bakery Manufacturer to join the established bakery team covering all aspects of the preparation and production of meat pies, pastry, ready meal, cooked meat and coleslaw products for dispatch/delivery. Including - cooking of fillings for pies and meals, together with the wider aspects of assembly and packaging. This role may offer progression for someone who is keen to learn and develop further kitchen skills.
Murdoch's makes and supplies award-winning pies, savoury pastries, cooked meats and coleslaw to convenience stores and supermarkets across Scotland, as well as for online UK distribution. Murdoch Butchers is certified by SALSA, operating to the highest food standards set out for small businesses. Full training will be delivered on the job by senior bakery/kitchen team.
This will include
* Handling, storage, transfer, preparation and of ingredients
* Portioning of ingredients and pastry components for pies and cooked products
* Following strict recipes, processes and instructions
* Cooking and cooling of components/fillings
* Assembly and handling of pastry and cooked meat products/ingredients
* Operation of machinery eg. automatic depositors, scales
* Packaging and labelling
* Maintaining hygiene and quality standards
* Record keeping
* Lifting and manual handling
* Cleaning of food production equipment and utensils
* Working in a high-pressure environment to order deadlines so our customers receive the freshest produce.
* This production area can become cold as it's heavily ventilated
We are a small team handling a high volume of products. At busy times this role may require working in other departments within the business including our butchery where similar tasks may occur eg. preparation of ingredients and products, packing, labelling.
* Rate of pay from NMW £12.21 per hour* (Based on age)
* Full Time (from 30+ hours)
* Part Time (from 16-20 hours)
* Includes work trial and three month probation period.
* Full training provided.
* Additional hours may be available at busy times, these may be in other departments.
