This is key to enabling us to deliver on the promises we've made to the people of Wales to build a sustainable transport network that meets their needs.Role responsibilitiesAs the Head of Engineering you will be responsible for providing engineering leadership and asset management to the organisation, setting engineering standards and ensuring compliance with the engineering change procedure. Also ensuring compliance with applicable rolling stock standards, including Railway Group Standards. Support the Asset Improvement Manager with the Train Reliability Improvement Plan (TRIP), prioritising actions and delivering solutions that improve fleet reliability. Attend reliability meetings and support the implementation of improvements via planning processes. Provide continued assurance of the compliance of systems and equipment to mandatory standards and legislative requirements. Support the introduction of new and cascaded fleets and lead on system development through engineering change review and project meetings. Act as a safety case holder with professional head responsibilities Investigate and review industry best practice and new technologies and recommend application to enhance new and existing fleets Monitor fleet performance, identify actual and potential material, production, planning and technical problems by establishing root cause. Manage closure of logged technical issues associated with rolling stock systems. Who we're looking for Project management qualification or demonstratable relevant experience. A minimum of 5 years' experience of Engineering/Production/Manufacturing leadership with proven experience of change management - a change champion Diplomatic ability to influence others at all levels of the business Familiarisation with fleet contracts and rolling stock leases. A strategic and forward thinking. Ability to juggle different projects/priorities and deliver high quality outcomes under pressure Significant experience in asset improvement management Welsh Language SkillsThe ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills.
