Role Summary
This DVP Data Engineer role supports the delivery of design verification activity through test preparation, data acquisition, analysis, reporting, and co-ordination across engineering teams. The position plays a key part in turning raw test data into clear, meaningful insight to support technical decisions, programme delivery, and vehicle development activities.
Role & Responsibilities
* Support the planning, co-ordination, and execution of development and sign-off testing activities.
* Work with engineers and stakeholders to ensure vehicles are prepared in line with test and data requirements.
* Support the specification and sign-off of instrumentation and sensor data acquisition systems prior to testing.
* Gather, process, and analyse data from sources including accelerometers, microphones, transducers, and thermocouples
* Prepare technical summaries, visualisations, structured reports, and records for test activities and outcomes.
* Support national and international testing activities, vehicle commissioning, and general programme delivery tasks
* The DVP Data Engineer will also help identify trends, anomalies, and performance metrics against defined requirements.
Requirements of the Role
* Experience suited to a DVP Data Engineer within product development, automotive engineering, or motorsport environments.
* Hands-on experience with data acquisition hardware and software.
* Proficiency with data analysis and reporting tools such as MoTeC, Python, MATLAB, Intrepid, and AI-based tools.
* Ability to develop internal tools or software for data processing and analysis.
* Understanding of automotive design, vehicle systems, development, and testing processes.
* Ability to diagnose electrical or instrumentation issues is desirable.
* Project planning or project management experience is desirable.
* Experience of proving grounds and test facilities in the UK and internationally is desirable.
* Relevant qualification in Automotive Engineering or Motorsport Engineering.
* Full driving licence required. Advanced driving qualifications and proving ground permits are desirable.
* Strong communication skills, attention to detail, flexibility, and willingness to travel.
