The post holder leads and manages the specialist MS service across South Buckinghamshire, working autonomously to deliver expert, evidence‑based care for people with Multiple Sclerosis. The role includes managing a complex clinical caseload, shaping future service development, and collaborating closely with neurologists, physicians, therapists, GPs, community teams, Social Services, and other MS nurses.
Main duties of the job
Provide specialist nursing expertise in the assessment, treatment and ongoing management of people with Multiple Sclerosis, working autonomously within professional and clinical guidelines. Manage an independent clinical caseload, completing advanced holistic assessments and delivering evidence‑based interventions for people with complex MS‑related needs. Coordinate patient care across acute, community and primary care settings to ensure timely, safe and seamless pathways. Work collaboratively with a rage of professionals to deliver high‑quality, consistent care. Act as a specialist resource for patients, families and carers, offering expert advice, education, and emotional support to promote self‑management and informed decision‑making. Provide MS‑specific education and training for healthcare professionals in a range of clinical settings, supporting improved standards of care. Contribute to service development by identifying areas for improvement and participating in audits, evaluations and quality‑improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical documentation in line with NMC standards and organisational policies. Keep clinical practice current by engaging in ongoing professional development and incorporating emerging evidence and best practice in MS care.
Promote safe, effective care by supporting governance processes, risk management, safeguarding and adherence to relevant policies and guidelines.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential criteria
1. Registered nurse
2. More than 7 years post registration experience
3. 5 or more years working as a band 6
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
4. Neurology experience
5. Experience of working within a wider MDT (e.g. BOB)
6. Experience of managing a large caseload of patients on treatments.
Desirable criteria
7. Experience of working within MS
