Position: Industrial Worker

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 5pm
Rate of Pay: £12.32 Per Hour
Main Duties:
The successful agency worker will be part of the Industrial Team based at one of The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise’s (CAFRE’s) farm centres, in either Antrim or Glenwherry. (Postings at each centre will be discussed with the successful applicant and allocated on a first come basis.)
– Beef & Sheep Centre – Antrim
– Dairy Centre – Antrim
– Hill Farm Centre – Glenwherry
The position will involve cattle and sheep husbandry duties, including milking cows on a rota basis at the Dairy Centre, Additional duties will include basic farm maintenance and operation of machinery associated with livestock, grassland management and crop husbandry.
An element of physical and financial enterprise recording of farm data will also be required.
Essential Criteria:
– Previous experience working on a farm and knowledge of livestock husbandry is essential.
– A full driving licence is required.
– Candidates should have at least one year’s experience of broader selection of suitable candidates) working with cattle and sheep, including milking cows.
– Reading and writing skills are essential to follow standard operating procedures and record basic enterprise data on provided recording sheets and systems.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
– A qualification in, or currently studying towards, a minimum of a Level 2 Diploma in Agriculture would be desirable.
– A formal training and assessed competence certificate in the safe operation of the following machinery would be advantageous:
Tractor Driving
Rough Terrain Telescopic Handlers
Counter Balance Forklift Trucks
Sit astride All Terrain Vehicles (ATV)
